The landscape of Dogtown captivated many artists, particularly Marsden Hartley. This catalogue gives an overview of Hartley’s work and life. Although Dogtown looks very different now from when Hartley visited, in your travels you can still try and find the places Hartley painted. This catalogue accompanied Cape Ann Museum’s 2012 exhibit of the same name and contains essays by Martha Oaks, Chief Curator of the Cape Ann Museum, art historian James F. O’Gorman, and author Peter Anastas.
