Tutta la Famiglia: Portrait of a Sicilian Cafe in America
Vendor: Cape Ann Museum Store
By Paul Cary Goldberg
After immigrating to Gloucester from Sicily, Paolo and Anna Ciaramitaro opened Café Sicilia in 1989. Located on Main Street, the café was not only a fixture of Gloucester, but also the Sicilian community. Already a semi-regular of the café, photographer Paul Goldberg began photographing inside the café beginning in spring of 2007. He soon discovered how complex and rich this small, modest café is, and how deeply culture is woven into the personality and life of the people. A deep mutual respect and affection arose. Through this catalogue, experience this slice of Gloucester life with unique photos of the faces and food of Café Sicilia.
