Laid Down on Paper: Printmaking in America, 1800-1865 accompanied the 2017 special exhibition Drawn from Nature & On Stone: The Lithographs of Fitz Henry Lane and Fitz Henry Lane Online, a resource tool created by the Cape Ann Museum. This catalogue is comprised of a collection of papers previously presented at a symposium hosted by the Cape Ann Museum in conjunction with the aforementioned special exhibition. Papers were presented by seven scholars working in fields related to printmaking during the era of Gloucester’s native son, Fitz Henry Lane (1804–1865).
