By Cape Ann Historical Society

A catalogue containing images and descriptions of maritime folk art of Cape Ann from the Fish Stories exhibit (August 16-November 30, 1991) accompanied by essays about the artists.

Both the exhibit and catalogue bring together two of the essential ingredients of Cape Ann's history that are often kept separate: fish and art. The eclectic mixture of local fisheries and the arts remains most prominent in the folk art of the area. The folk art chosen for this exhibition is as varied as the geography and people of Cape Ann. While the medium, scale, and specific subject change from object to object, all of the work shares a maritime theme. This theme evolved naturally out of the folk artists' lives.

Softcover, 37 pages, 11 x 8.5". Black & White; 20 Photographs.
