Published by Cape Ann Historical Association; Foreword by Harold Bell; Essays by Sharon Worley

This catalogue accompanied the Cape Ann Museum's 1997 Max Kuehne exhibition. Max Kuehne: Paintings, Furniture, Sculpture includes a foreword written by Harold Bell, former President of the Cape Ann Historical Association, as well as essays by Sharon Worley, former Chief Curator of the Cape Ann Historical Association.

Max Kuehne (1880-1968) was one of the most talented and versatile artists to work on Cape Ann during the 20th century. Born in Germany, Kuehne was brought to this country by his parents as a child; he made his first visit to Cape Ann in 1912. While Max Kuehne excelled at painting and printmaking, he was perhaps best known as a decorative wood carver, creating picture frames, standing screens, chests of drawers and tables, each featuring incised gesso finishes embellished with tempera and silver leaf.

Softcover, 35 pages, 8.5 x 1/8 x 10". Black & White and Full Color Images.
