This is a catalogue for the Stephen Parrish exhibit at the Cape Ann Museum that ran October 25, 1985 through January 31, 1986.

When Stephen Parrish arrived in July 1880 at the Fairview Inn in East Gloucester for the first of many Cape Ann summer visits, he had been a full-time artist for three years and an etcher for just nine months. Although Cape Ann inspired many of his paintings, drawings and watercolors over the course of several decades, it was during his visits to cape Ann that Parrish devoted his greatest energy to exploring etching as a medium for depicting the local landscape. Of his total output of 170 etchings, made between 1879 and approximately 1889, 42 are of Cape Ann.
